Dog found after exhaustive search

With classic Kiwi faith and much hard work after a solid five day search in the high terrain of the South Island, this  trusty trained German Shepherd called Thames was reunited with his master. A real feel-good story for the front page of the Dom Post.
Thames recovered, well and happy

Just time for a quick coffee at the Memphis before a RV at Te Papa to ensure everything is in order for next Sunday's Candlelight Memorial. Their contact-person left a lot undone last year and hopefully it won't be the same again. She Is not the best organiser in the world which may unfortunately be symptomatic of quite a few of the staff at this wonderful, if somewhat badly-run museum.

News in paper of local composer Jack Body's death after months of cancer illness. It seemed he just waited long enough for the return of Jennifer Shennan who will doubtess organise his 'obsèques'.

The big fallout from the British Elections is that Scotland, with its huge majority of Scottish National Party members, may well make the Scottish dream of independence come true. What a headache for PM Cameron, as it is the last thing he wants to countenance. But perhaps Scotland should be free, after all, they are well different from the average pom and certainly are the backbone of New Zealand's tough society. No doubt they would make a huge success of governing that doughty northern tip of the once 'United' Kingdom.

The local opera team has a great success on its hands with a co-production of Aussie Lindy Hume directing a Queensland production with a mainly Kiwi  cast. Cinderella's story has never looked so grim, or entertaining, it seems, and I would love to see it.

Opera La Cenerentola a big success!
Scotland the Brave, and soon the Free?

Visit to Te Papa - war exhibition huge!

Te Marae, venue for the Candlelight

Well the meeting with N went well and although she didn't takes notes, yet again, we are hoping all things will be in place this year. The logistics are with us as she knows now what to expect, and her boss is taking part in the proceedings beforehand so she will be on her best mettle to perform. All good there, and the Marae is a spectacular place for any non-Maori to be introduced to, so our guest speaker, the Aussie Justice Michael Kirby should be suitable impressed and have some good memories to take home to Sydney.

Effectively it will also be my swan-song to Body Positive, as I was guest speaker at last year's Memorial and this year, my final appearance, will be fittingly with the Maori consort Ti Whanawhana, where we will sing 'Te Hokinga Mai' along with my former choir, the Glamaphones.
