I cannot begin to say how lucky I was at the MCA yesterday to encounter Grayson Perry. This man is an absolute genius and his work shows it all.
This amazing comprehensive exhibition in Sydney, curated by the major curator at the MCA is the biggest ever in the world, and lucky man that I am, I happened to be there when the artist himself, in Australia for this unique exhibition, strolled through with a camera trained on him explaining his work ethos and his life's philosophy. And Perry is most articulate as well as an iconoclastic and simple man, with his work spanning from ceramics of the highest skills, to tapestry, sculpture, painting, writing and lots more artistic, more than you could ever imagine.
He is also a practising transvestite and has loved women's clothes since he was a child, and is not a gay but a true hetero-sexual beating down the barriers of pigeon-holing. This was a such a great opportunity to see a genius at his best and talking like a very ordinary person. But such an extraordinary man he is.
And a trilogy of tapestries, as Grayson, resplendent in apple green shorts explains to an MCA curator the influence of British genius Hogarth on his work.

Back to the banal in a George Street cafe for a coffee
before I go to Manly to meet Susie for my last encounter before my return tonight to wonderful Wellie!

It surely is not safe for Pell
to come to Australia as he will face a Court which will doubtless not let him return to his beloved and safe Rome. This man is a coward as well as a horrible dishonest paedophile protector. This article was in the Sydney Morning Herald.

So without rushing I made the airport in perfect timing. I am getting better at this, and now having passed through security with nary a wait, I am patiently early for my flight which has been delayed half an hour with Queenstown NZ being the culprit.
My couple of hours with Susie at her new Manly townhouse was very satisfying and we had a lovely home-made snack together and chewed the fat. She had quit her last job after forty-eight hours, a job which was obviously too good to be true, and is now reconsidering her future without the falsity and neuroses of the super-wealthy people who have constanty employed her at their whim. One of her former employers, the billionaire Packer family, she now sees as grossly unhappy in spite of their immense wealth and she understands she does not want her future to be in or even around their ugly and spoiled milieu. This is a big step forward for Susie who is such a delightful and pure Soul who gives so much and expects so little in return. I look forward now to hearing what eventuates for her future as it may well shape a big change in her life. We must stay in touch. She asked me if I had returned to teaching French and I sadly said no, but it was a salutary reminder that next year is my last chance to resume my teaching or I will have left it too long. I have so much to do to prepare for next year when I return home tomorrow.
Found this gem at the Oxford Street
St. Vinnie's, she is for Tom and I have called her 'Mama's suntan in Florida'.

Now for to my welcome return to Wellington, after having checked with Maisie all is OK with her Mum in Melbourne. She certainly has a lot on her plate there but is succeeding with the help of the ECK.
