Snowed in!

Well who said it couldn't get worse! Today we wake to totally snow covered car parks with even more snow to come tomorrow - well you've just got to make the best of it, and enjoy it. So it will be now one more visit to see the snow bedecked Temple before surrendering the car in downtown Minneapolis and checking in to the Holiday Inn.

Arrival at the Holiday Inn on 3rd Avenue
A quick visit to the snow covered Temple saw a great meet-up of old friends from Melbourne, Sydney and Wellington and then back to return the car rental to the city where we have just arrived at the very nice modest hotel which is handily close to theHilton where the Seminar is taking place. On coming into Minneapolis on the quite large but navigable freeways, I notice the population size to be only 392,000 odd citizens, which is amazingly, smaller than greater Wellington. So it is a relatively compact city, but newer than Wellington, with lots of high-rise buildings, wide streets and people who are still dressed for the winter which has certainly lingered on.

It is actually labelled as a Convention City, with the enormous Convention Centre being connected to one of the two largest covered shopping malls in the States, called Mall of America. So it is a shopping hub for many of the adjacent States, including Wisconsin, Iowa, the Dakotas and Illinois. The ice is slowly thawing and the muddy  icy streets are being cleaned up by the street cleaners. It is a friendly, clean and quite liveable city I would dare to say.
