Te Wiki o te Reo - Language Week

Yesterday Lambton Quay was closed for a great march, a promenade of the Te Reo lovers, and it was quite a joy to behold. The Maori tongue, in all its glory, especially in song, or Waiata as they are known, is something which is carried down from generation to generation, often by the women who carry the responsibility more than the men. 'Te Reo', the Language, is now slowly being resurrected in schools but is still not popularly used to the extent it should be, although its teaching is now heavily subsidised by the government.
This thought is good, making a mall of Lambton Quay, but knowing the status quo of Wellington, it will be very difficult to achieve in the next few years.
Here is an example of very lax laws allowing gullty lawbreakers to get away, and they know it!
Above an example of the exuberance of young Maori when taught their native tongue, Te Reo.

Memphis doesn't care however.

A school play I may see tonight, looking interesting.
The invading wars did exist and were often ill-reported.... Maori seem to be shown as monsters in this cartoon.
This the sad state of many non-working people who cannot afford normal homes.  How lucky are we !
