Saturday's documentary movie

Today started bright but soon deteriorated into a blustery gale force windy day of unpleasant weather. But we're used to it, so no complaints.

Out to my regular coffee with warm date scone at Café Baobab in Newtown, but not with Tom today as he has gone to the country, Norsewood again. But I pop in later to see his housemate Brent who is  entertaining an interesting visitor who manages to educate me quite a bit with the local political scene. He is a well-versed and intelligent young Kiwi who has no illusions about life even at his tender age, perhaps because he spent seven years working in the NZ Navy in Intelligence and saw quite a bit of  overseas participation. He finds nothing very impressive with the local political scene, suffice to say.

Afterward I spend a couple of hours at Flashdog Studios to help somewhat with the large preparation for the ECK Seminar of next weekend which should be quite an event with the guest speaker Rodney Jones coming from New York for the occasion.
This interesting local 'spy story' features in the Film Festival and I may catch it later on general release...
Three activist Catholics decide to 'attack' a Spy base in Blenheim which they, and many others, totally disagreed with.
My fellow caffeinistas at Baobab
The classic Kwi athlete striding into the sunset at Rio Olympics...
The result of Brexit perhaps, more people are discovering the joy of the Antipodes
Trump is confident but the opinion polls say otherwise, but it may be tight, who knows how mad the American voters are?
Another quiet achieving Kiwi but she died at forty, leaving a great Astronomical heritage to the world....

Below, the amazing story of Rory O'Neill, aka Panti Bliss, drag-queen extraordinaire from Dublin.
This is the feel-good movie for all gay people, recording predominantly Catholic Ireland leading the world as the first country to vote in by public majority, total sexual equality, including gay marriage. Truly a great movie and Rory O'Neill is worthy of a gong, which he did indeed receive and from the hands of none other than the great Stephen Fry. Five stars,  and thanks to NZFF for bringing out the movie.
