Last Day at Noho

Up at seven thirty after not a bad sleep although the poi was practisied well into midnight.
Took a shot of Mark looking at the spectacular view outside this wonderful Marae.

This morning there was a Korero about the suicides of young takataapui and what they they go through in bullying at school. A suggestion to set a training program was offered for people to be able to talk about their experiences of being different. The answer lies in the education of the masses, but first of all, getting through to their peers at school though the thorough instruction of their teachers.
It is a difficult path but has to be addressed as there are so many needless suicides due to bullying, sexual harassment, and of course, the worst, sexual abuse. There was a great awareness shown here of the need for better a sexual education, as well as for young medical students to be taught gender awareness and differences. All this is beginning but needs a lot more work as most of the medical educators are older and fixed in their outmoded belief system.
